WHY SHOULD I KEEP UP WITH EXTERIOR HOME REPAIRS?

Keeping your home exterior in good condition is important for several reasons:

  1. Protects your home: Your home's exterior, including the siding, roof, and windows, protects your home from the elements. Regular maintenance and repairs can help prevent damage from weather, such as rain, snow, wind, and hail, as well as damage from pests and other environmental factors.

  2. Maintains your home's value: The condition of your home's exterior is one of the first things potential buyers notice when looking at a home. Keeping your home's exterior in good condition can help maintain its value and increase its curb appeal.

  3. Prevents costly repairs: Regular maintenance and repairs can help prevent costly repairs in the future. By addressing small issues before they become major problems, you can save money on repairs and replacement costs.

  4. Improves energy efficiency: A poorly maintained home exterior can reduce your home's energy efficiency. Drafty windows and doors, damaged siding, and a leaking roof can all contribute to energy loss, causing your heating and cooling costs to increase.

WHAT ARE THE COMMON ROOF TYPES NEAR ME?

There are several types of roof structures that are commonly used in Wisconsin.

  1. Gable Roof: This is one of the most common types of roof structures in Wisconsin. It consists of two sloping sides that meet at the ridge or peak of the roof. This type of roof provides good ventilation and is ideal for areas with heavy snow loads.

  2. Hip Roof: A hip roof has four sloping sides that meet at the ridge or peak of the roof. This type of roof is more stable than a gable roof and provides better protection against strong winds.

  3. Mansard Roof: A mansard roof has four sloping sides, with the lower slope being steeper than the upper slope. This type of roof provides more living space in the attic and is commonly used in older homes and buildings.

  4. Gambrel Roof: A gambrel roof has two sides, each with two slopes. The upper slope is shallow, while the lower slope is steeper. This type of roof is commonly used in barns and farmhouses.

  5. Flat Roof: A flat roof has no slope and is commonly used in commercial buildings. This type of roof requires special care to prevent water from pooling and causing damage.
